Long Day
75 MILES. I got to where I was planning to go, and felt good, so I did the next day as well. Lots of farms and the hills are rolling more and more as I near the mountains. To the old guy who told me on the first day that I would only make it to Richmond, you were clearly wrong. To Frank Glazer, who rollerblade across the country, you may still be right, but I'm feeling more confident each day that you are mistaken. The roads today were off the Adventure Cycling route, and I chose them because they were smooth. They had a lot of traffic, but it was manageable until about 5 pm, when it took me 2 hours to go 12 miles. A surprisingly large number of people go INTO Charlottesville during rush hour. My legs are tired, my lungs are tired, my mind is tired. I can't wait to go to bed.

Great job! Just remember that every day is cumulative. Just like anything great in life, it is a series of steps. Make sure to look around at everything, everywhere you are at. Relish this gift that you are in. Smile and talk to everyone you meet.
On the subject of roads and routes, do anything that you want and go anywhere you want. This is your show now. Skateability is relative. I probably walked and hiked a hundred miles up the sides of roads due to skateability or traffic. It can't stop you. Nothing can stop you.
I hope you are experiencing this with people that are important you. I had my wife. Thank them for their help every chance you can, and not only with words, but by keeping your promise to finish. Your support vehicle is your lifeline. This is a major undertaking for them too.
Be kind to the law enforcement officials that you meet. They are now your best friends. They can radio ahead to let others know that you are coming through.
Now, say goodbye to the world as you currently know it. You are somewhere else. You have entered a world of sweat, blood, and tears that few would undertake, much less understand. Welcome to a world filled with pain and ecstasy. You are now a resident of Planet Ultra.

I just realized that you are skating it unsupported. You are in my prayers.
Haha, ya its no cakewalk with the heavy backpack, but its been working well so far, and the backpack feels lighter everyday. I am not opposed to a support vehicle, just didn't know anyone who would want to do it this summer or at these gas prices. I'll let you know how it works out
